Apple has pushed out iOS 5.1.1, a free software update for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad users. The minor point release focuses, as usual, on bug fixes and performance enhancements.
This update contains improvements and bug fixes, including:
Improves reliability of using HDR option for photos taken using the Lock Screen shortcut
Addresses bugs that could prevent the new iPad from switching between 2G and 3G networks
Fixes bugs that affected AirPlay video playback in some circumstances
Improved reliability for syncing Safari bookmarks and Reading List
Fixes an issue where ‘Unable to purchase’ alert could be displayed after successful purchase
For information on the security content of this update, please visit this website: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1222
You can update now quickly and efficiently, on-device and over-the-air (OTA) by going to Settings, General, Software Update on your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad. Or you can break out the USB dock cable, tether up, and launch iTunes on your Mac or Windows desktop.

2 days ago I dropped my iPhone 4 ~ it landed on concrete, face down and as I looked down to where it lay the back was smashed to pieces
Expecting the worst I picked up the broken phone and slowly turned it over to see how much damage had been done, and how much it was going to hurt my wallet! To my surprise the front was fine!! Lucky me.
The back was ruined though, so I went on eBay to see what I could find. There ate so many different backs and they are incredibly easy to swap. Look what £6 got me, I’m so very happy with it……
Evening folks,
Theres no use me going in to too much detail here as I am one of thousands (if not millions) of bloggers / tweeters and posters that have all read up / witnessed todays Apple Event and wanting to share it with the world.
So instead and as a turn of events here is only what you need to know and a few links for you to continue your reading, research and swotting up on.
This is out now, you can download iTunes using software update on your Mac, selecting upgrade from the help menu on windows or Download Here – http://www.apple.com/uk/itunes/
iOS 5.1 is available as an “Over the Air” update in the Settings App on your iPhone / iPod Touch / iPad.
iTunes 6 Brings Genius Playlists to iTunes Match and Movies – (all-be-it only Movies you have purchased from Apple but hey thats still cool!)
iOS 5.1 seems more snappy, permanently has the Camera icon next to the slide to unlock bar, has improved battery life and now offers you the opportunity to delete photos from your iCloud Photo Stream – Huzzah!! — Lastly 5.1 brings much bigger changes to the Apple TV 2 (ATV2) more on this later though
Apple never gave the new iPad a new name like iPad3, iPadHD or iPad2S, they just referred to it as the new iPad. Most importantly though they did announce a new iPad!

So whats new;
Look at the clever comparison here – http://www.apple.com/uk/ipad/features/

The iPad 2 drops to £329 – but surley you can spend the extra £80 to get a new iPad!!

Minimal updates to this really – most importantly same price – £99
Whats new;
* 1080p Video
* A5 Chip – upgraded from the A4 Chip
* Slightly tweaked interface
- I have just updated my ATV2 and got the new interface, I think it looks like its been nicely setup for more 3rd Party Apps, slightly like the Springboard on all our Touch iDevices

iPhoto for iOS has been released and looks pretty swanky! Support for up to 19MP Photos, full editing suite and some clever photo management options. It says it is a universal app available for both iPhone and iPad, would appear after investigation iPhone 4+ only and iPad 2+, iOS 5.1 is a necessity.
Take a look here – iPhoto on App Store

You can now Jailbreak an A4 iOS device Untethered. This includes the iPhone 4, iPod Touch and iPad 1.
A5 devices (iPhone 4S and iPad2 coming soon)
Be warned though that once you Jailbreak you will not be able to use the “Over the Air” updates now available in iOS5.
I personally am not Jailbroken any more as I love the stability and ease of being able to update whenever I can.
As a devoted iOS fan and still a fan of Jailbreaking I will cover how to Jailbreak on my standard Jailbreak Page HERE as soon as I get the chance to update.
iOS5 will be released to the public today and with it comes iMessage which is free text messages for everyone!! Plus many many more incredible features. It’s amazing but if you want to keep your jailbreak do not update.
To be honest I’ve been on iOS5 for months now as a developer but forbidden to talk about it under a Non Disclosure Act from Apple.
As it is officially launched today that NDA will lift and I can disclose just how cool it is. Im no longer Jailbroken because it gives me everything I want out of the box, plus with no Jailbreak it doesn’t crash or hang and the battery life is amazing.
My top 3 favourite additions -
iMessage – your iPhone knows if the person you are sending a message is on an iOS device that’s running iOS5 (that includes iPads and iPod touches) and if they are online via wifi or 3G it will send your message over the internet for free! You can see when it’s delivered, read (if you turn that feature on) and you can see when someone is typing a reply. Plus images and videos can be sent too all for free!!
Twitter – You can share anything from anywhere directly to Twitter as its built in to iOS. That includes photos, websites, map locations and videos.
Reminders – Ok I didn’t see the point of this at the beginning as I use my calendar religiously. However today I set a reminder to go off automatically when my phone knew I was at work, and it did! I then had a reminder to stop at the doctors after I had picked my son up from school and sure as hell as I drove out of the village my phone went off an reminded me to go to the doctors. This all worked from it knowing my location and amazed me. I now have a clever list of reminders that i can’t believe I never had in my life before.
Other cool new features -
Double tap home on the lock screen to see a button that opens your camera without unlocking your phone.
Edit photos right from the photos app and create and manage your own folders.
Notification center keeps all your push messages in one convenient screen you can pull down from the top at any moment. Finally say goodbye to those hideous popup messages and relish in the beauty of notification center. Plus get a text when your phone is locked, let them list up on your lockscreen but then open a specific one by sliding the actual notification to unlock straight to that app!
iCloud – Games, Apps, iTunes, Emails, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders plus much more now store their data in the cloud. This means you can access them from any device and keep everything in sync everywhere. Games are already using this for save files which means you can carry on where you left off on any one of your devices.
There’s much much more I haven’t covered but I don’t have the time right now. As soon as I do I will continue this write-up. For now what are you waiting for, press the upgrade button and enjoy iOS5!!
Hi Guys,
Home poorly at the mo so taking the opportunity to catch up on my site.
This morning GameLofts Asphalt 6 has gone free on the AppStore for a limited time. This is an A* game with high quality graphics and well worth the download.
Next up is FaceBook Messenger. This is a strange additional App to the FaceBook app that purely concentrates on the ability to send and receive messages and receive push notifications when they are received. This is Facebooks rival app for apps like WhatsApp, LiveProfile, Blackberry Messenger and Apples own iMessages launching later this month with iOS5.
There should be an influx of new Apps and updates coming soon to incorporate all the new iOS Gubbings. As they do anything I think that is noteworthy will make its way onto the site
