Jailbreaking
Jailbreaking
You can now Jailbreak an A4 iOS device Untethered. This includes the iPhone 4, iPod Touch and iPad 1.
A5 devices (iPhone 4S and iPad2 coming soon)
Be warned though that once you Jailbreak you will not be able to use the “Over the Air” updates now available in iOS5.
I personally am not Jailbroken any more as I love the stability and ease of being able to update whenever I can.
As a devoted iOS fan and still a fan of Jailbreaking I will cover how to Jailbreak on my standard Jailbreak Page HERE as soon as I get the chance to update.
DO NOT under any circumstances upgrade to 4.3.5 on your iPhone if you are on 4.3.3 and want to keep your untethered Jailbreak. It has been patched and is the only reason that 4.3.4 & 4.3.5 have been released.
Saying that, if you are unfortunate enough to have upgraded or just bought a new iDevice that has 4.3.4/4.3.5 on it you can Jailbreak using the latest Redsn0w available here FOR MAC and here FOR WINDOWS. This will however be a tethered Jailbreak only. If you are on 4.3.5 use the same Jailbreak but point it at the 4.3.4 IPSW
Please look under the iPhone sections of this site for more details

Make sure your iOS Device is on 4.3.3 and go then to JailBreakMe.com on your iOS Device. Slide to Jailbreak and your done! It really is that simple!
Enjoy!!

WARNING The Jailbreak of iPad 2 that was leaked earlier is said to have bugs and be stolen from @comex by someone using a dictionary attack
If you wish to try it out do so AT YOUR OWN RISK!!
This PDF based exploit has been discovered on the web and is believed to be an early version of JailbreakMe 3.0
It is confirmed working on iPad 2 on iOS 4.3.0 only!
To use it reboot your iPad 2, make sure there is no other apps running in multi-tasking, that you are on 4.3.0 then click this link in Safari
It will close Safari and Cydia will install.
Reboot and you are done
The iPhone Dev Team Have updated their tools. I have updated all download links on my site. Please read on if you have already jailbroken 4.3.3
Update #1: PwnageTool and redsn0w have been updated to include a fix for the iPhone3GS/i4 side switch vibration issue (only for 4.3.3!). Thanks to @i0n1c for tracking this down (even though he doesn’t even have an iPhone!).
If you’re already jailbroken at 4.3.3 (by either redsn0w rc15 or custom IPSW), you can install this fix simply by running redsn0w rc16 over your existing 4.3.3 jailbreak. Just uncheck the “Install Cydia” option and check any other options you want. The fix will be installed no matter what you’ve selected. This is safe for even ultrasn0w unlockers to do (because redsn0w itself won’t update your baseband…only an iTunes stock IPSW update/restore will do that).
redsn0w rc16 has a few more improvements: Windows 7 and Vista users should no longer need to set their CPU affinity…just run redsn0w as Administrator in XP compatiblity mode. Also, the “verbose boot” option for old-bootrom iPhone 3GS has been fixed for 4.3.3 (remember: old-bootrom 3GS users can even have custom bootlogos that show right at power-up). Enjoy!
Apple have rushed out yet another iOS update to stop the iPhone collected data on where the user has been. They yet again didnt patch @ionic‘s unteathered Jailbreak and all the tools have now been updated for you all to Jailbreak Away! (Not for iPad2!)

Hi guys,
Just a quick update on the 4.3.2 Untethered Jailbreak.
For those of you on Mac OS X here is the latest release of PwnageTool to create an untethered iOS 4.3.2 Firmware for all iDevices (Except iPad2)
Ive hosted it for download here on sM3e.com but is also available here with all the latest information iPhone Dev-Team Blog
Ive put a bit more research into this over today and last night and now truly don’t see the big deal. I will however keep the original article here for you all to read and do with as you wish.
Other companies like Google and Microsoft have been doing this for years by logging your IP’s with every search you conduct. Also this logging of location data has been there since iOS 3 and has been made aware to forensic teams across the world since then. An entire book was published on findings in the logging of location data back in December last year! So once again this is old news that has been blown up by the media and given all the wannabe bigwigs of today’s society something to winge about and point their finger of hate at Apple again. No wonder Apple have stayed quiet on the matter, they are not harvesting this information, they don’t store it anywhere they can access it and nor do they sell it onto third parties. It’s just an integrated part of iOS that to be honest each and every one of you on iOS 3.0+ agreed to in the update of the terms and conditions / usage agreements that Apple and iTunes constantly pumps at you. And the way I look at it is hey, if it makes forensic investigations into criminals whereabouts easier and keeps them off the streets good on em! I for one do not know any forensic investigators nor do I have anything to hide from any loved ones or the authorities so it really doesn’t affect me.
As usual put your comments on my views at the bottom of this article and here is the original article for you all to have a read.
ORIGINAL ARTICLE
Today I received a text from my bruv asking me how to disable the tracking on the iPhone that has recently been publicized in the press. To be honest I told him not to worry as it was nothing I had heard of, however after recollecting that I saw something in Cydia recently I thought I would have a look again.
A quick search on ModMyI revealed this
Every Apple iPhone owner has a free app they didn’t even know they had: iKnow Where You Are.
The U.K. based newspaper The Guardian is reporting that security researchers have discovered the iPhone keeps tabs on your location at all times. The location log includes longitudinal and latitudinal coordinates as well as a timestamp. Each time the iPhone is synced to the computer a new log file is created. Apple has literally made it possible for anyone who cares enough to look, to have a complete map of an individual’s movements for as long as they have had the phone. While this may seem as a Big-Brother breach against iPhone owners’ privacy, Apple is in the clear legally. Near the end of the 15,000 plus word iTunes terms and conditions document you never read before agreeing to them is this nugget, “Apple and our partners and licensees may collect, use, and share precise location data, including the real-time geographic location of your Apple computer or device. This location data is collected anonymously in a form that does not personally identify you and is used by Apple and our partners and licensees to provide and improve location-based products and services. For example, we may share geographic location with application providers when you opt in to their location services.”
For now it seems the data is simply being transferred from iPhones to the computers they are synched to and not to any third parties or Apple. However, this does little to ease the idea of someone stealing the location databases of iPhone users. Apple has yet to comment on the situation.
The scientists who discovered this, Alasdair Allan and Pete Warden, have set up a webpage (petewarden/iPhoneTracker @ GitHub), which answers questions about the file and even have an app that lets users check for themselves the location data their iPhone has retained. It is worth noting the iPhone is the only device that researchers found to be collecting and hording location data information.

Following yesterday’s discovery that iOS 4 on both iPhone and iPad are actually tracking a users every location, on the fly, at every moment, the jailbreak community has beaten Apple to the punch once again and release ‘untracked’ a simple utility that stops location storing. The app was cooked up by popular JB dev Ryan Petrich released the utility, which stops iOS from writing to the specific database that stores the location. It should not affect any other settings or features of the phone. The latest version is still brand new, and is at build 0.1.
The particular database file that ‘untracked’ blocks is consolidated.db, it also will clean up information that already exists in the database. More importantly, the utility requires no options for the user to worry about. It just fixes the problem.
It’s description in Cydia reads:
Quote:
This package installs a daemon (process that can run in the background) to clean consolidated.db file) No new icons are added to your homescreen. There are no options to configure.

So there you have it folks! If you dont want Apple to Track your every move, if your not already get Jailbroken using my guides HERE then get yourself on Cydia and DOWNLOAD UNTRACKERED
Spose I best go let my bruv know now! (Whoops)
This makes for good reading too
If you’ve been hanging around MMi the last few days, you’re probably familiar with the rampant talk surrounding the recently publicized discovery that Applekeeps close, secretive tabs on where you and your iPhone go. As my colleague Phillip Swanson dished yesterday, security researchers have discovered the iPhone maintains a location log that includes longitudinal and latitudinal coordinates as well as a timestamp. Each time the iPhone is synced to the computer a new log file is created.
Well, now US lawmakers have gotten wind of this discovery. Fresh from their skirmish with Apple over in-app purchases and the phenomenon of children unwittingly purchasing a gazilion-dollars worth of stuff via mommy and daddy’s iPhone, several high-profile US senators are calling attention to Apple’s tracking bonanza (even though we agree to be tracked in the fine print of Apple’s “terms and conditions” document).
On Thursday, Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) and Rep. Jay Inslee (D-Wash.) want Apple to address this report immediately. Franken, in particular, drafted a letter to Mr. Steve Jobs himself. “There are numerous ways in which this information could be abused by criminals and bad actors,” Franken stated in the letter. “Furthermore, there is no indication that this file is any different for underage iPhone or iPad users, meaning that the millions of children and teenagers who use iPhone or iPad devices also risk having their location collected and compromised.”
Franken also dashed-off a litany of questions pushing Apple to answer why its collects the data in the first place and how it’s ultimately used. Franken is even wondering if other Apple devices – like laptops – similarly acquire and report user location and usage information. It’s a good question. And soon enough, Apple may respond with the answers we’re all waiting for.

The iPhone Dev Team have done it again and released an Untethered Jailbreak for all 4.3.2 iOS devices (except iPad 2)
The Jailbreak which strangely wasnt patched by Apple’s 4.3.2 release still uses the LimeRain exploit with @ionic‘s untether and fantastic work on stopping Apples ASLR technology from messing up Jailbreaks.
Restore to stock 4.3.2 using iTunes and then run the latest 0.9.6rc14 for Mac OS X or Windows
Im loving 4.3.1 at the mo and there is nothing in the changelog for me to warrant an upgrade but if you have let us know below.

Just woke up to some exciting news on the Twitterspher.
Those guys at iPhone Dev Team have gone and released an Untethered Jailbreak for all 4.3.1 iOS devices (except iPad 2)
The Jailbreak uses the LimeRain exploit with @ionic‘s untether and fantastic work on stopping Apples ASLR technology from messing up Jailbreaks.
Pwnagetool is available for Mac and will allow you to create a custom firmware you can restore to from iTunes that won’t upgrade your baseband (this is for unlockers) however ultrasn0w needs a 4.3.1 update first.
(download pwnagetool from the iPhone Dev Team Blog)
Sn0wbreeze will be updated for windows users to do the same very soon.
For the rest of us that ain’t fussed about an unlock just get upgraded to stock 4.3.1 using iTunes and then run the latest RedSn0w 0.9.6rc9 for Mac OS X or Windows
I have work right now so won’t get to test it out till later on. Anyone that uses it today can you post your success stories here please?
