iOS 4.3.4 & 4.3.5 Released

This has 0 new features and was purely released to prevent the untethered jailbreak that was made available for 4.3.3 using Jailbreakme.com and patch other security holes.

iOS 4.3.2 quickly replaced by iOS 4.3.3

Nothing to see here other than a few bug fixes and iOS 4.3.3 reduces the size of a crowd-sourced location database stored on individual devices, stops the file from being supported on iTunes and deletes the file entirely if your user disables location services. This is all an attempt to calm people after finding out that their iPhones and iTunes keeps a log on where they have been. Not any more though. Still Jailbreakable which is good!! LOOK HERE!!

So what’s new?

There doesnt seem to be many changes. Airplay now works from any app as the API is publicly available. And there is the addition of iTunes Home Sharing meaning you can stream iTunes content to your iOS device when your on the same wireless network. (Obviously this adheres to iTunes filetype bottleknecks i.e. H264 MP4 and MOV videos only.) Safari should be quicker with the new implementation of the Nitro Javascript Engine. Lastly iPhone 4 will be able to share its 3G connection over it own wifi creating a mini wireless hotspot a-la Mifi Adapter.

So what’s new?

Other than 4.2 being the first iOS that will run on all current iOS devices there really isn’t many changes from 4.1. The biggest changes are the inclusion of Airplay to stream audio and video to other Airlplay compatible devices (ie Apple TV) and the addition of Airprint for being able to print to printers on your wireless network. There is also a few smaller things like the ability to change the font in notes. However if you are an iPad user 4.2 brings you much more as you will get all the multi-tasking, wallpaper, spellcheck, Game Center and Folders goodness of iOS 4 & 4.1 plus the new features! Jailbreaking 4.2.1 is simple with Greenpois0nwhich jailbreaks all iOS Devices and works untethered.

What’s new then?

On the iPhone 3G iOS 4.1 has been very much just tidied up so as to run better and iron out all those laggy bugs.

On the iPhone 3GS, 4 and the iPod Touch 3rd and 4th Generation you now have Game Center which is much like XBox Live or Playstation Network for your iDevice. This enables Achievements, Online ScoreBoards, Online Multiplayer and VoiceChat! Lots of existing games have been updated to support this and many new games are coming.

On the iPhone 4 HDR has been brought to the camera app, this means lighting in photos should be handled much much better and stop light drowning out a photo or the shadows taking over. Have a look on Apples site for more details on HDR

There is a few speed increases here an there on all devices and bugs squished here an there.

iOS 4.1 won’t be coming to the iPad however 4.2 is due for all devices including the iPad in NOVEMBER!

What’s new then?

Multitasking!!

You will now be able to minimize apps by double pressing the home key! This will bring up a list of currently open apps.
(3GS, iPhone 4 Only)

Quick App Switching

When you minimize an app only the necessary bits are left running, using less processing and therefore less battery, when you go back to an app it launches instantly.
On top of this if you minimize an app and something happens while it’s minimized a popup will let you know so you can switch back.

Folders!!

By dragging one app onto another you will create a folder. These folders can even be put on the dock. You can keep your games all together, your net apps etc

Homescreen Wallpapers!!

Says it all really, no more black backgrounds, you can pick your own pictures

5 x Digital Zoom!!

Camera will now have Zoom and “touch to focus” for video recording (3GS, iPhone 4 Only)

Unified Inbox!!

Your mail app will now show all your accounts emails in the same inbox (if you so wish) and have threaded conversations with the same email subject
